In God We Trust
I love that on our money we see “In God We Trust”. BUT…. Do we? I, on purpose, waited until today to write by blog because it is Election Day! Very soon all the hoopla; all the bantering; all the out right lying; and denigration of the other person running will be over! Or will it? Will people get behind our new administration, or will this country continue to be egregiously divided. I firmly believe we, here in America, are at a crossroads. I believe we are at a point where we will be forced to stand for something. The gap between what is “of God” and what is NOT “of God” is widening to the point that no one can straddle it. I believe it is time for people to fully commit to one side or the other – and I am not talking about Republican or Democrat. I am talking about standing for Godly principles or just plainly taking your place in the line that is going along with every worldly trend that comes about.
At Teen Challenge, I bluntly tell my students, “there is no such thing as half-steppin with Christ. We need to either be all the way in, or all the way out.” If a Teen Challenge student opens the door to a negative behavior, they are quickly off to the races. Before they know it, they are completely back to their old behaviors. Not a one of them, or myself either, can afford to give place to Satan’s traps – AT ALL! With that being the case, that also begs me to ask the questions: “Can anyone who names the name of Christ afford to allow compromise in his or her life? Can our country afford to continue to go down the ungodly path it is on? And finally, What am I to do as a Believer?”
There is only one answer; and, of course, it is found in scripture. I will leave us with two: Joshua 24:15: But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” (Am I going to go along with the crowd, or blatantly, purposely, serve the Lord?) 2 Chronicles 7:14: if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (The formula for healing our nation and even our own lives is found right here in this scripture.)
There is an old saying, “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for everything.” STAND! Falling is not an option! #standingforgodagainstallodds
