“I grew up in a good Christian home. At the age of seven I accepted Jesus into my heart. My parents always had me and my brother and sister in church since we were born. But, as a young girl I was teased about being fat by kids at school. I never had boyfriends like my other friends, which also left me feeling unloved. I graduated from high school and did some college classes. I started drinking occasionally at the age of twenty when out with my friends.
In 2007, I got a job with the State of California. I wanted to fit in with my co-workers so I would go out drinking and going to places I never thought I would go. I got involved with male relationships that I knew were not right. The drinking and the partying was starting to get out of control. I got to the point where I needed a drink every day and I started isolating myself from my family.
In August of 2011, I got my first DUI. Then in 2012 I got pulled over for numerous violations and I got put in Solano County Jail for five days. The hardest thing was seeing my mom and dad behind the glass while I was in jail clothed in handcuffs. I told them I would go to Teen Challenge. I entered the doors of Teen Challenge on April 4th, 2013. I now have a close relationship with God. God has restored my relationship with my family. God has healed me from many things that have been buried deep inside for years. I now have self-worth, and know I am His beautiful creation.
Being a graduate of this amazing ministry has given me a real sense of hope. I am not that same person I was before I came into Teen Challenge. I was blessed to be able to return back to my previous job where now I am a more dependable, hardworking employee. I have such an awesome support system from my pastor, church family, my own family and friends. I have also been a volunteer and a mentor to a few women at Teen Challenge. I will always be grateful for this amazing ministry and everyone who was there for me when I needed help the most.”
