For over forty years SVTC has offered our quality 13 to 16 month residential Christian discipleship program for those with life-controlling problems at no cost to those who need our help. However, with the demands for our services increasing, and the costs of caring for our students continually increasing, our Board of Directors has decided to make a shift in our policy.
Starting July 1st, we started to ask those applying to enroll in the SVTC program, with the help of their family, friends, and church to do their best to cover the costs of their care. Having done everything they can, then we will continue to enlist the help of other “Good Samaritans,” like yourself, to help sponsor them for the portion that they cannot cover.
No one will ever be turned away for a lack of finances. But as the students and their families do what they are able it will free us to better care for the ones who are destitute and have no family support. (I Timothy 5:16) Our goal with the added income is to use it to be able to fill every one of our centers to capacity. So we will be able to go from a capacity of around 113 students to 156 students and thereby further reduce our waiting list of applicants for the program.
If you have any questions we would be glad to explain this policy shift in greater detail. But we believe it will result in improved stewardship by the SVTC ministry and greater ownership and value placed upon the ministry by those contributing to their own discipleship. Many Teen Challenge ministries around the country have already made this shift and the good reports of the benefits their students’ have received are very encouraging.
